چکیده

Abstract Context Conservation scientists recommend maintaining and restoring ecological connectivity to sustain biodiversity in the face of land-use climate change. Alternative assessments conducted at multiple spatial scales are needed understand consequences varying assumptions for use multi-scale conservation planning. North America: a Taxonomic and Ecological Overview

Field surveys in eastern North America confirm the naturalization of Glossostigma plants at 19 localities in four states: Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island. DNA sequence analysis of individuals from 14 sampled populations identifies these nonindigenous plants as Glossostigma cleistanthum, a species native to Australia and New Zealand. These results correct prior misidentif...

Stock Market Volatility: Examining North America, Europe and Asia

An understanding of volatility in stock markets is important for determining the cost of capital and for assessing investment and leverage decisions as volatility is synonymous with risk. Substantial changes in volatility of financial markets are capable of having significant negative effects on risk averse investors. Using daily returns from 1992 to 2002, we investigate volatility co-movement ...

Ecological citizenship and sustainable consumption: Examining local organic food networks

Sustainable consumption is gaining in currency as a new environmental policy objective. This paper presents new research findings from a mixed-method empirical study of a local organic food network to interrogate the theories of both sustainable consumption and ecological citizenship. It describes a mainstream policy model of sustainable consumption, and contrasts this with an alternative model...

Regional Survey: M(A)T in North America

We examine two North American case studies, each of which illustrates a different strat-egy for coming to terms with high-volume, highquality translation. The first eschews MT in favour of translation memory technology; the second employs a controlled language to simplify the input to an MT system. Both strategies betray a certain dissatisfaction with the current state of machine translation, a...
